Discover places and reviews that matter to you
Mapinion is a new kind of social network that lets you and your friends share your opinions about the places you visit, all on a map. Your map shows places that have been reviewed by the people you are connected with. This way, the reviews you see (‘Mapinions’) are personal and reliable. Anything that you can find on a map can be reviewed and shared.
Share your thoughts about the world around you
Recording new places on the map is simple- just enter the location address in the search bar. Or, click the 'Plot' button and place a marker on the new location. Now add your Mapinion – and it will be automatically shared with your network. If you want, you can have your Mapinion posted directly your Facebook wall.
Find what you’re looking for
Use the search bar to find friends, places, and Mapinions. Type in the search bar and your search results will automatically pop up. If what you’re looking for isn’t yet there, click ‘search with Google’ and create a new location. New locations are accessible by everyone, but your Mapinion is only shared with your friends.
Sort and share
Places appear on the map in a variety of colours and styles. There are different icons: Eat, Sleep, Drink, See, Shop, Fun. Icons outlined in black are locations that have been reviewed by your friends. Icons with white outlines are locations that you yourself have reviewed. Cluster icons show multiple nearby places.
See only what you want to see
Want to see what’s new? Use the ‘Period’ filter and check out what’s new, or since last week. Only want to see what a few friends have to say? Hide individual user’s Mapinion using the ‘Friends’ filter. Want to see the places that a specific friend has reviewed? Search for the user in the Search box.
Say what you think
Commenting breathes life into Mapinion. Use comments to ask questions, elaborate on reviews, and post your thoughts. Mapinion is more than just a place to browse your friends’ favourite places. Make sure to add your favourite spots and share your world!
Echo what others say
Agree with everything that a friend had to say about a place? Couldn’t say it any better? Echoing a friend’s Mapinion will share their review as yours, and your network will be able to view their review as your own.

The Mapinionator lets you know what's happening on Mapinion. Comments and reviews are updated on the Mapinionator to keep you up to date with your network's activity.
See what friends think about their favourite places
Finding friends on Mapinion is simple and easy. Mapinion searches your Facebook, Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo! (among others!) and connect you with friends that are already sharing their favourite places. The more friends you connect with, the more Mapinions you’ll see on your map.
